I was working outside today for quite a while, doing my typical gardening tasks that I do every day. I went for a walk with Meta down Roncesvalles as we often do. I also mowed the tiny lawn using garden shears that I just bought. And I feel pretty shitty right now. Usually after spending a day working hard outside I feel refreshed afterwards. But today I've felt nauseous and a little lightheaded, especially after trimming the lawn, which was somewhat strenuous.
I thought, today has to be smog day. I couldn't think of what else would cause me to feel so crappy after exerting myself. And sure enough, today is the fourth smog alert day of the year. The previous three occurred in the first half of May. So today I guess I've absorbed a load of toxins by working outside. Crap. Meanwhile, I've been spending the last few months trying so hard to detox.
From now on I'm going to be a lot more cautious with regards to smog days and check the forecast before I head out.

Here are some pics of recent:
I know there still aren't any pics of our place, but I thought it would be nice to show them after we have a couch (which we hopefully get tonight).
Soul Food is a small Jamaican restaurant on Lansdowne just north of the subway station. The woman you runs it is very nice and has had it for seven years. The food is very good, and the portions are quite large. I've been trying to cleanse the last few days, but I've been finding it hard to do that when eating out so often. Last night at Soul Food I didn't realize I ordered two full meals for myself. The vegetarian roti dish was called "small" but it filled the whole plate and was maybe four inches high. That was in addition to the vegetarian dalé dish that ordered, which was more than enough for one person. So much for cleansing.
Today Jen and I visited her good friends Anna and Ben in the east end, and they gave us chairs. We took them home on the streetcar and subway. We also scored at the second-hand store in Cabbagetown, paying only $10 for a bursting knapsack of clothing. Chris gave me the idea of silkscreening some of my bizarre drawings onto T-shirts and selling them on Etsy.

I forgot to post these photos from my trip to Toronto before Christmas. I visited Mee Ming during the day, then went to have dinner at Alex & Melissa's place in King City, which was exciting. I got to see their new baby, Kade, for the first time, as well as my old Everdale 2005 crew. The house - actually Alex's mom's house - was very ritzy. I'm not used to being amongst such luxury.
And now for my trip to Toronto yesterday. I had a dinner with my high school friends in Toronto, as per the usual tradition. An old high school acquaintance, Nina, joined this time. Some of us went to Jon's apartment to play Trivial Pursuit. I thought I'd win if I was on Evan's team (and we did).
I'm moving to Toronto January 2. Pretty excited, I think...
